Frequently asked questions
Which countries are covered?
The United States (federal), the United Kingdom (England, Wales and Northern Ireland), Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands. Each one has its own rule table with the tax year, the date it was last checked and a link to the official source.
Is this my exact tax bill?
No. It applies the statutory scale and the allowance everybody gets. Personal deductions, tax credits, other income, regional scales and anything that depends on your circumstances are not modelled, so treat the figure as an estimate.
What income should I enter?
The label above the field tells you, because it is not the same in every country. The United States and the United Kingdom take income before the standard deduction and before the personal allowance, since the tool applies those for you. Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands take income that is already taxable, because their allowances are inside the scale or come off the tax. To start from a salary instead, use the salary calculator, which takes social contributions off first.
How current are the rates?
They are for tax year 2026 and were last checked on 2 September 2026. That date is printed under every result, so you can always see how fresh the table is.
Is this tax advice?
No. FinKit gives no tax, legal or financial advice. Check any figure against your tax authority or your accountant before you rely on it.
