The Salary Calculator
Turn a gross salary into take-home pay: the social contributions and the income tax come off line by line, so you can see where every part of the money went.
Country and salary
Everything is worked out in your browser. No figure is sent anywhere.
How to work out take-home pay
- Choose your country and say whether the salary you are typing is a year, a month or a week.
- Enter the gross amount, and any option your country needs.
- Read the take-home pay and the line by line breakdown of what came off.
Frequently asked questions
What is taken off the gross salary?
The employee's social contributions and the income tax on what is left, using the rules of the country you pick: National Insurance in the UK, Social Security and Medicare in the US, the four social insurances in Germany, the pension and CSG contributions in France, Seguridad Social in Spain, and in the Netherlands the box 1 rate that already contains the national insurance premiums.
Why is my payslip different?
Because a payslip knows things this calculator cannot: your tax code, pension contributions, student loan, benefits in kind, local or regional taxes, and any allowance personal to you. This is the ordinary case, worked out from the statutory rules.
Is the employer's cost included?
No. Only what the employee loses is shown. Employer contributions sit on top of the gross salary and never appear on your pay.
Which tax year is this?
Tax year 2026, last checked on 2 September 2026. Both are printed under every result, next to a link to the official source for each country.
Is this tax advice?
No. It is an estimate. FinKit gives no tax, legal or financial advice, and nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.
